Itinerary

Day 1 – Sydney to Norfolk Island

Check in at Sydney International Airport for your short flight to Norfolk Island. Watawieh! Welcome to Norfolk Island. On arrival, you’ll be transferred to Governor’s Lodge Resort Hotel, your home for the next seven nights. Located on Queen Elizabeth Ave, the resort is just a short drive or walk from the main township of Burnt Pine and features 55 individual one-bedroom cabins set amongst 12 acres of subtropical gardens, offering peace, privacy and tranquillity. All cabins are well appointed and include a separate lounge and bedroom, kitchenette with bar fridge and microwave, tea and coffee making facilities, private bathroom, and furnished balcony. Day 2 – Clifftop Breakfast & Island Culture Dinner

This morning you will be picked up by coach and transferred to the Captain Cook Monument for a delicious barbeque breakfast. Located at the spot where Captain James Cook and his officers landed in 1774, a stone obelisk marks the place of Cook’s landing, but the real spectacle begins at the lookout where you can gaze across sheer cliffs fringed with Norfolk pines, and out to sea where dramatic rock formations such as Bird Rock, Elephant Rock, and Green Pool Stone, rise from the ocean. Keep your eyes peeled for seabirds riding the coastal thermals, and whales breaching in season. After breakfast you will return to the resort to enjoy some free time. This evening you’ll be transferred to Kingston to enjoy a special dinner at No. 9 Quality Row a historic Georgian-style building constructed in 1839 as the Royal Engineer’s residence. Today, the site functions as a research centre, and tonight’s dinner will take place in the original annex where meals were once prepared by servants for the family dining in the main house. Guests will enjoy a traditional Norfolk Island meal featuring dishes such as pilhi, coconut bread and island pies. The evening also includes demonstrations of weaving, cooking, and the Norf’k language, passed down from mutineer ancestors and their Tahitian wives. Included Meals: B, D.

Today is yours to enjoy at your own pace. Take the opportunity to relax and unwind. Included Meals: B.

Day 4 – Island Life Coach Tour

Hear how and where islanders are born, educated, find work and careers, attend their various churches, are cared for in advancing years and eventually accorded free burial in a carefully tended community graveyard. Experienced leaders will explain the eight original family groups, how their cultural traits are fostered, valued and maintained in today’s daily life. Learn about how the island generates its electricity, gains its supply of gas, ships in petroleum products, food and the material needs of life. The making of roads, the maintenance of medical, health services and environmental issues are explained. How modern life is experienced in Norfolk Island is what this tour is all about. The tour includes morning tea and lunch with one standard beer, wine or soft drink. Included Meals: B, L.
