Marvel at the steep, dramatic majesty of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Journey aboard the Pike’s Peak Cog Railway, the world’s highest cog railroad, for an 8.9-mile trip to the top of Pike’s Peak. Climb aboard an 1881 steam train for a journey through the San Juan Mountains. Drive through the ancient culture of the Ancestral Puebloans at Mesa Verde National Park (UNESCO). Itinerary

Day 1 – Denver, Colorado

Arrive in Denver and begin your Colorado Rockies adventure. Meet your fellow travellers and enjoy a welcome dinner.

Day 2 – Denver – Rocky Mountain National Park – Denver

Travel through Boulder to Estes Park before exploring Rocky Mountain National Park. Take in spectacular mountain views along Trail Ridge Road and Rainbow Curve.

Day 3 – Denver – Colorado National Monument – Grand Junction

Journey through the Rocky Mountains to Grand Junction. Explore Colorado National Monument and enjoy stunning views of deep canyons and towering rock formations.

Day 4 – Black Canyon of the Gunnison – Grand Junction

Visit Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and admire its dramatic cliffs and rugged scenery. Discover the history of the American West at the Museum of the Mountain West.

Day 5 – Grand Junction – Silverton – Durango

Travel to Silverton and board the historic Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Enjoy a scenic train journey through the San Juan Mountains before arriving in Durango.

Day 6 – Durango – Mesa Verde National Park – Durango

Explore Mesa Verde National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to remarkable ancient cliff dwellings. Learn about the Ancestral Puebloan people and their fascinating history.

Day 7 – Durango – Colorado Springs

Travel through the scenic Colorado countryside towards Colorado Springs. Enjoy a farm-to-table dinner at a family-owned ranch and experience the welcoming spirit of the American West.

Day 8 – Colorado Springs – Pikes Peak – Garden of the Gods – Colorado Springs

Ride the historic Pikes Peak Cog Railway to the summit of Pikes Peak for breathtaking mountain views. Visit Garden of the Gods and admire its dramatic red rock formations.

Day 9 – Colorado Springs

Enjoy breakfast before your Colorado Rockies adventure comes to an end. Depart with memories of spectacular national parks, historic trains, and the American West.

Tour Fitness Level Recommendation

Level 3: You’re an on-the-go traveller. You don’t want to miss a thing, so walking and standing for longer periods of time (1-2 hours) isn’t a big deal. You can navigate hills and uneven ground, climb into various modes of transport (tuk-tuk, cable car, zodiac, etc.), and could possibly anticipate elevation changes. You can expect some longer days balanced with free time to recharge or set out on your own adventure.

Motor Coach

All surfaces will be sanitised often, including regular cleaning of high-touch areas with disinfecting wipes. Hand sanitiser will be available at all times, and drivers will wear protective gear.

Will I need a passport?

Passports are needed when travelling outside of your home country. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond the conclusion of your trip.

Will I need a visa?

You are responsible for obtaining all necessary visas prior to the departure of your guided holiday. Depending on your nationality, you may need visas to enter certain countries included on your trip. Please note that obtaining visas can take up to six weeks before your departure.
