Itinerary
Day 1 – Lisbon, Portugal
Arrive in Lisbon and transfer to your centrally located hotel. Spend the afternoon and evening relaxing or exploring the city at your leisure.
Day 2 – Lisbon, Portugal
Enjoy a half-day city tour, including Belém, Jerónimos Monastery and the Tower of Belém. Spend the afternoon exploring Lisbon or join an optional food tour.
Day 3 – Porto, Portugal
Travel to Porto with a stop in Coimbra for lunch. Continue to Vila Nova de Gaia and board your ship. Settle into your stateroom and enjoy an optional Port wine experience.
Day 4 – Régua & Pinhão, Portugal
Cruise along the Douro to Régua. Visit Vila Real and the beautiful Mateus Palace, followed by a Port wine tasting. Rejoin the ship in Pinhão for dinner.
Day 5 – Scenic Sailing & Barca d’Alva, Portugal
Sail through the scenic Douro Valley, passing vineyards, rock formations and river locks. Visit the historic village of Castelo Rodrigo before returning to the ship.
Day 6 – Salamanca, Spain
Enjoy a full-day visit to UNESCO-listed Salamanca. Explore Plaza Mayor, Salamanca University, the House of Shells and the New Cathedral before returning to the ship.
Day 7 – Pinhão, Portugal
Discover the village of Favaios and visit a traditional bakery. Enjoy lunch and wine tasting at a historic Douro winery before sailing back to Régua.
Day 8 – Régua, Portugal
Visit Lamego and its impressive Sanctuary of Our Lady of Remedies, cathedral and castle ruins. Return to the ship for lunch and a scenic afternoon cruise towards Porto.
Day 9 – Porto, Portugal
Explore Porto on a guided city tour, discovering its historic centre, cathedral and famous bridges. Enjoy free time before a farewell dinner.
Day 10 – Porto, Portugal
Disembark after breakfast and transfer to the airport for your return flight, or extend your journey with an optional stay in Braga and Santiago de Compostela.

How will payments on board be handled?
Although most services are included in your cruise fare, discretionary purchases will be charged to your shipboard account. These accounts, along with all prices and currency on board the ship, are as follows:

Is there Internet access on board the ship?
All ships sailing our Europe, Egypt and the Mississippi itineraries offer free Wi-Fi. Our connection relies on a cellular or satellite terminal—the best possible solution for river cruising.
What is the dress code?
During the day, dress is casual including shorts (if the season is warm), slacks or jeans and comfortable shoes for walking tours. There are no “formal nights” in the evening; recommended evening dress is “elegant casual.” For ladies, this may include a dress, skirt or slacks with a sweater or blouse; and for gentlemen, trousers and a collared shirt. A tie and jacket are optional.
Some shore excursions visit religious sites that require modesty of dress. To avoid being denied entry, we recommend men wear long pants and refrain from sleeveless shirts; and for women, clothing that covers the knees and tops that are not sleeveless or too revealing.
What is the tipping policy?
From the Program Director and Hotel Manager to restaurant servers and housekeeping, the onboard staff is dedicated to serving you. Gratuities are included on board. Any additional tipping is at your discretion; should you choose to tip your local guides and drivers, we recommend tipping at the end of each tour in cash. Most restaurants include service in their prices, and it’s customary to round up generously for good service.
