Itinerary
Day 1 – Stockholm, Sweden
Welcome to Stockholm, where city life unfolds across a network of islands and waterways. As arrival times vary, there are no scheduled experiences through the afternoon. Take time to walk, settle in, and get your bearings. As evening arrives, meet your fellow travelers for a welcome dinner and your first shared taste of Sweden.
Day 2 – Stockholm
This morning, walk Stockholm with a local guide who brings the city into focus during an immersive three-hour tour. Along the way, pause for fika and take part in this Swedish coffee break tradition. The rest of the day is yours for exploration. Continue into neighborhoods, museums, or galleries at your own pace, from the Vasa Museum to Fotografiska or the ABBA Museum.
Day 3 – Stockholm – Luleå
It’s time to say hej då to Stockholm and fly north to Luleå, the gateway to Swedish Lapland. Upon arrival, experience Nordic hospitality inside a traditional Sámi lavvu. Inside this tent, your host shares stories of Arctic life in the wilderness as you enjoy a slice of Sámi cake. Later, settle in and take time to explore this coastal city, perhaps along the harbor.
Day 4 – Luleå
This morning, explore Luleå on foot with a local guide who brings everyday life in Swedish Lapland into focus, where long-held traditions meet the rhythms of today. Just beyond the city, visit Gammelstad Church Town, where rows of red cottages circle a historic stone church. Hear how worshippers once journeyed here from afar to gather. Sit down for lunch at a cozy local restaurant in the village. Later, return to Luleå, where your evening is free to explore in your own way.
Day 5 – Luleå – Kukkolankoski – Rovaniemi, Finland
Travel north toward the Arctic Circle, crossing into Finnish Lapland. Continue to Kukkolankoski, where locals still work the river using techniques passed down through generations. See the fishing installations lining the banks, then step inside a kota (a wooden hut) to gather around the fire as whitefish cooks in the traditional Kukkola style. Listen to personal stories tied to the river, and share a meal together, telling stories around the fire. Arrive in Rovaniemi, the gateway to Lapland.
Day 6 – Rovaniemi
Wake up in Finnish Lapland and head to Konttaniemi Reindeer Farm, where a local herder welcomes you into the patterns of daily life shaped by the animals. Spend time together learning how reindeer are raised, guided, and cared for. Hear personal stories that connect family, land, and tradition. Sit down for lunch at the farm and taste a local favorite, reindeer soup or salmon soup, prepared with ingredients tied to the region. This afternoon, it’s your choice! Sip and savor at Lapland Brewery during a guided tour and tasting -OR- step inside a local artisan’s studio, where antlers are shaped into keepsakes and everyday life unfolds up close as you are welcomed into the artisan’s home. The evening is yours to spend time in Rovaniemi as you wish.
Day 7 – Rovaniemi – Saariselkä
Cross the Arctic Circle and travel deeper into Finland’s far north, where daily life slows with the landscape. By afternoon, arrive in Saariselkä, a small village shaped by the traditions of Lapland. Settle in for a 2-night stay and get your bearings in this remote setting, where wide skies and quiet surroundings define the experience.
Day 8 – Saariselkä
This morning, head out with a local guide who shares how people live with, and read, the Arctic landscape during a two-hour forest walk. Move along pine-lined trails, learning what makes this environment home. Return to Saariselkä for free time for lunch. This afternoon, slow down the local way at Galdu Spa, rotating between traditional and wood-burning saunas, a daily ritual rooted in Finnish culture.
Day 9 – Saariselkä – Alta, Norway
Travel into Norway’s Finnmark region and visit Karasjok, where the Sámi Parliament offers a window into Indigenous governance, identity, and Arctic life today. Take time for lunch before continuing west across open tundra into Alta. Arrive at Sorrisniva Arctic Wilderness Lodge and settle into your remote surroundings, where the connection to nature shapes the experience. A cozy dinner at the lodge rounds out the day.
Day 10 – Alta
This morning, set out with a guide to visit the Alta Canyon and learn how the region balances natural forces with modern energy at its hydroelectric site. Later, head to the Alta Museum and visit its UNESCO-listed rock carvings, where stories of early Arctic life are shared through guided insight. Free time allows you to explore the exhibits at your own pace before returning to Sorrisniva, where the evening settles in with dinner in your remote wilderness lodge.
Day 11 – Alta – Tromsø
Travel south through the Arctic landscape, tracing routes shaped by water and weather. Cross fjords by ferry via Olderdalen and Lyngseidet, where local connections still rely on these crossings. Crossing a second dramatic fjord, arrive in Tromsø, the “Gateway to the Arctic”.
Day 12 – Tromsø
This morning, experience a hands-on Arctic tradition as you board a working-style cruiser in Tromsø for a “catch, cook, and eat” king crab outing. Head out with local crew who share life on these waters, then step in and help haul crab pots from the sea. The catch becomes your lunch, prepared fresh on board. Back in port, linger onboard and connect with the crew or take time to explore Tromsø on your own.
Day 13 – Tromsø – Oslo
Begin your day with an early transfer to the airport and fly south to Oslo. On arrival, join your Tour Manager for a panoramic tour of the capital, moving through distinct neighborhoods and civic spaces that shape modern Norwegian life, from the waterfront harbor to the heart of the city along Karl Johans gate. Enjoy free time for lunch before settling into your centrally located hotel. This evening, visit the Nobel Peace Center for an after-hours experience, where a private guide brings the stories of past laureates and global changemakers into sharper focus. Spend time exploring the exhibits without the daytime crowds, followed by a cocktail reception in this remarkable setting. Grab dinner on your own and explore this vibrant city at leisure.
Day 14 – Oslo
Start your day with a scenic drive to the harbor and board an Oslo fjord cruise, where daily life unfolds along the water as you pass islands and coastal neighborhoods. Return to the city and enjoy the afternoon at your own pace. This evening, gather with your fellow travelers over a farewell dinner at a local restaurant, reflecting on the connections and experiences that shaped your journey.
